Zap Comeback, Win in Extras, Sweep Moo

Zap Comeback, Win in Extras, Sweep Moo

For the first time in its young history, the Oahe Zap have a sweep of a series, beating the Fremont Moo 8-7 in 10 innings on Wednesday.

The win also improves the Zap to 8-7 in the second half of the season trying to close in on the Independence League lead. Oahe would open up the game with a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Andrew Beavers had a two RBI single. The score would hold up until the Moo busted open a big lead. Fremont would score three runs in the fifth, a run in the sixth and another three runs in the seventh as Jason Clark would a hit solo shot and Tyman Long would have two RBIs. However, Oahe would get a run back in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch and head into the ninth down 7-3. Tyler Traphagen would be walked with the bases loaded to score the first run, a single by Trevor Seagraves, another bases loaded walk to Jackson Mix and Beavers would tie the game at 7-7. In the top of the 10th, a failed sacrifice bunt attempt had the automatic runner on second thrown out trying to take third which led the scoreless top half of the inning. An intentional walk and hit by pitch loaded the bases with nobody out and Gage Huffman delivered the game winning walk-off single to give the Zap its fifth win in the last six games including its first ever sweep of the season.

Oahe will have an off day on Thursday and will start its last nine road games of the season on Friday when they travel to Hastings to face the Sodbusters.
