PIERRE — A Pierre man is arrested Friday on multiple charges connected to an assault. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called to the area around Harrison and Sioux Avenues around 9:40 pm for a fight in progress. Responding officers learned during their investigation 45 year-old Adam Kehrwald of Pierre assaulted an individual. A bystander attempted to intervene and got the victim away from Kehrwald. Officers also learned that prior to the assault, Kehrwald threatened and harassed three juveniles in the same area. Police found Kehrwald a few blocks away. As officers attempted to take Kehrwald into custody he resisted arrested and assaulted one Pierre police officer and threatened a second. Kehrwald is being charged with Simple Assault, Simple Assault on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest, Threatening a Law Enforcement Officer or Family and Stalking a Child 12 Years-Old or Younger.
