Zap Welcome in Sawtooth Sockeyes for First Ever Meeting

Even though the second half of the season is nine games in, the Oahe Zap is playing a first time opponent, the Sawtooth Sockeyes for a weekend series.

Sawtooth is like the Nebraska Prospects where they play every team in the league, but they do not go into the Independence League standings. The Sockeyes are just 6-5 in ILB games, but are 26-7 overall in 2023. Sawtooth comes into tonight having won 14 games in a row, although none of those 14 wins have come against an Independence League team. Sawtooth plays teams in the Competitors Collegiate League as well as teams from the Pacific Coast League and Bay Area Collegiate League.

The Zap come in at 3-6 and have dropped three straight, all to the Nebraska Prospects who are 20-3 against Independence League teams. The Casper Spuds currently leads the ILB in the second half of the season with a 6-4 record so the Zap only trail the league lead by 2.5 games heading into the weekend.

First pitch from Hyde Stadium tonight and Saturday is at 6:35 with Sunday’s game scheduled for first pitch at 535.
