Pierre alum Spencer Sarringar finished his college career in mid-June being the National Runner-Up in the Division II World Series with Rollins College. On July 4th, Sarringar would sign a professional contract with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association.
Sarringar gets to play in his home state again after playing in Aberdeen at Northern State until being a graduate transfer to Rollins in 2023. Sarringar hit .386 with the Tars dropping three home runs along with 10 doubles and driving in 27 runs in total. His best work of 2023 was the playoffs where he hit .405 in the playoffs with 12 RBIs and five doubles. In the World Series he hit 8-18 which is good for a .444 average, seven RBIs and two doubles.
The Canaries are currently 21-29 on the season 10.5 games back of the Kansas City Monarchs for the division lead who has the best record in the American Association at 31-18.
Sarringar played his first game on the 4th of July for Sioux Falls against the Monarchs in Kansas City. He went 0-3 with a strikeout in a 5-2 loss. Sioux Falls returns home to face the Chicago Dogs this weekend. First pitch on Friday is at 7:05 from Sioux Falls Stadium.
