With a rain out on Saturday, the Oahe Zap and Fremont Moo would play a doubleheader on Sunday which resulted in the Zap taking both games on Sunday and taking the series for its first series win in 2023.
The Zap would drop the opening game of the series on Friday with a 15-2 loss, but would come back in game one on Sunday for a 7-3 win. Preston Lau would double home the first run of the game in the top of the first and the Zap would add another two in the second with a Jacob Mix RBI single and Trevor Seagraves RBI double to lead 3-0. In the top of the fifth the Zap would put the finishing touches on the game one victory with RBI singles from Andrew Beavers, Jarred Heck and Tyler Traphagen scoring four runs to lead 7-1 and finish off the seven inning win.
The Zap would win the second game of the twin billing 4-1 over the Moo and wasted no time again in the second game. Jacob Mix would score on a wild pitch and Garret Arnold would have a two RBI double to give Oahe the 3-0 lead after the top of the first and it would be all they needed to get the win. Traphagen would have an RBI ground out in the top of the sixth to extend the lead for good measure to 4-0. South Dakota’s Tyman Long would hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth for Fremont’s only run in game two.
The Zap take the series and win a series for the first time in 2023. It improves the second half record to 3-3 while Fremont drops to 1-5 in the second half of the season.
