Prospects Shutout Zap to Begin Three Game Set

The Oahe Zap offense didn’t have any fireworks on Monday as the Nebraska Prospects would defeat the Zap 10-0 at Hyde Stadium in Pierre.

Overall the Zap had just three hits in the ballgame as Joel Benes would throw a complete game shutout on 105 pitches striking out 15 batters and not allowing a free pass. The three hits were the only three hitters he faced over the minimum over the game. He got all the run support he needed in the top of the second with a 2-0 lead, but the Prospects added on another two runs in the third, eighth and ninth with a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Eli Swofford led the way with three RBIs as Nebraska had four doubles of their 14 hits. Trenton Duchscherer had two of the three Oahe hits Kolby Rich had the other. The Zap fall to 3-4 in the second half of the season.

The Zap and Prospects will play game two of the series at 6:35 on Tuesday at Hyde Stadium.
