B 1-B Crew Looking Forward To Buzzing Fort Pierre On 4th Of July

FORT PIERRE — A B 1-B Lancer bomber from Ellsworth Air Force Base is scheduled to perform eight flyovers of Independence Day events largely in the Black Hills area. One of the eight is a straight shot over the Oahe Dam, down the Missouri River and over the end of Fort Pierre’s 4th of July parade…

Major Matthew Morse is Wing Scheduler for the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth and says the B 1-B gets thirsty in the air…

Morse says while the flyover is fun for those on the ground, it’s a part of serious training for the flight crew….

Morse says the Air Force is excited to make Fort Pierre a regular stop on the 4th of July…

Flyovers are planned for events in Custer, Piedmont, Hot Springs, Belle Fourche, Gillette, Wyoming, Lead and Spearfish. During flyovers the planes are not permitted to carry any weapon systems.
