One Bad Inning Dooms Zap as Oahe Splits First Series

The Oahe Zap couldn’t hold on to a 4-2 lead after six innings and would drop the series finale 14-5 to the Spearfish Sasquatch on Sunday.

Oahe would get an RBI run single from Tyler Traphagen and a three run double from Trevor Seagraves to take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was scoreless until the sixth inning. However, an 11 run seventh with the final three runs being unearned. Parker Bleggi hit a three run double to give Spearfish the lead back and the Sasquatch continued to pour it on in the inning, but only used five hits in the inning to score the 11 runs. Oahe had three walks and three hit batters in the inning along with an error. Gavin Starcher had an RBI fielder’s choice in the bottom of the eighth although the game was out of reach at the time.

Oahe, for the first time this season, split the series and didn’t drop the series. Both teams won two games as the Zap are now at 5-22 while Spearfish is at 10-15 on the season. Heading into the week, the Zap are 13 games back of first place and still 12 games back of second with only the top two teams playing in the championship series. Oahe is off on Monday, but will return and play again Tuesday through Thursday facing the Casper Spuds. First pitch on Tuesday is at 7:30 Mountain Time.
