Zap Blown Out in Series Opener in Spearfish

The Oahe Zap would allow two six run innings on Tuesday as the Spearfish Sasquatch would beat Oahe 18-3 to drop the Zap for a third straight game.

Spearfish would open up the game leading 3-0 at the end of the first inning thanks to two separate hit batters. Gage Huffman, Tyler Hoffman and Jacob Mix would each drive in a run in the top of the second to tie the game at three, but in the bottom of the second, Spearfish would get its first six run inning which included a lead off homer by Bryson Hoier to take the lead for good. Nick Blessing allowed nine runs, six earned on eight hits one walk and one strikeout through three innings of work in the loss. While the Zap had 13 hits in the game, they couldn’t string them all together to score more runs after the second inning. Spearfish would add another six runs in the bottom of the eighth even with a 12-3 lead at the time.

Oahe drops to 3-18 on the season and will play game two of the series Wednesday with first pitch at 7:05 Mountain Time.
