In a unanimous vote on Monday, Jon Kotilnek will take over the role as the Coaching Director for the Oahe Capitals replacing Jim Wedin who is stepping down from the position.
Kotilnek is a graduate of Pierre T.F. Riggs High School in 2002 and is a former Oahe Capitals player himself. He was part of the second ever varsity team in Oahe Capitals history. Now, having been an assistant coach on the varsity team since the 2019-2020 season, he assumes the role as the coaching director. Being an alum of the Capitals, Kotilnek says it’s great to see the growth of the Capitals from back when he was part of the first few teams to what they are now…
As Kotilnek moves into this role he says he and Steve Steele, the director of Hockey, have had conversations about continuing to unify the coaching staffs of all levels…

Wedin, who has served in the role for the near past decade, will still be the Girls varsity head coach and Kotilnek will remain on the coaching staff of the boys varsity team.
