Pierre Man’s Failure To Register And Update As Sex Offender Brings Over A Year In Federal Prison

PIERRE — A Pierre man is sentenced to over a year in federal prison for not properly registering as a sex offender. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 31 year-old Slyvan Larrabee was sentenced last week by Chief Judge Roberto Lange to 17 months in federal custody for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Larrabee was indicted in February and he pleaded guilty in March. Larrabee, according to Ramsdall failed to register as a sex offender between December of 2022 and January of this year. He has a prior federal conviction for Sexual Contact with a Minor which requires him to update his registration. Ramsdell says Larrabee knowingly failed to register and update his information with law enforcement. Larrabee was immediately taken into custody by the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin serving his sentence.
