Doyle Throws No-Hitter in Eights First Win of Season

Miles Doyle would blank St. Peter, Minnesota on Saturday and had just one base runner away from a perfect game as Pierre Post 8 would win its first game of the season 9-0.

Doyle had a one out error in bottom of the fourth to lead off the inning, but it was the only base runner the entire game. He finished with eight strikeouts and 71 pitches. Doyle went above and beyond what the Eights were looking for in an outing. It’s the third straight quality start for Doyle who also threw well against Sioux Falls East and Rapid City Post 22, two of the top end teams in South Dakota. Carter Sanderson, Ridge Leimbach and Cooper Terwilliger each had two RBIs in the win while Jett Zabel, Jonny Lyons and Matthew Coverdale each added an RBI for the Eights first win.

In the second game, Pierre would drop a 10-0 decision to Brandon Valley as the Lynx scored runs in each of the five innings including a four run fourth inning. Nate Meyers would hit a two run homer in the first and drive in three total runs for Brandon Valley. Tayden Mitchell would finish with a five inning no-hitter with a walk and two hit batters. He threw just 57 pitches through five innings to collect the no-hitter.

Pierre Post 8 is now at 1-16 and will face Omaha North to close out the Dakota Classic on Sunday. First pitch is at 10:30 on KCCR Sports YouTube ONLY. Jon Winkler is on the call.
