Pierre Post 8 would give up a seven spot in the first inning in a 10-5 loss to Columbus, Nebraska in its opening game of the Dakota Classic.
The Eights scored two runs on two errors in the first inning as Ridge Leimbach drove in the first run of the game and a second run would score thanks to an error. With a 2-0 lead, the Eights were unable to hold on to the lead as Hudson Allen was unable to record an out and seven of the eight men he faced came into score. However, four pitchers combined to give up three runs, two earned the rest of the game as Matt Hanson, Matthew Coverdale, Miles Doyle and Jonny Lyons would help keep the Eights in the game. In the top of the sixth, Pierre added three runs on five hits as an error helped a run score along with an RBI single from Spencer Easland.
Pierre drops to 0-15 on the season and will face St. Peter, Minnesota who is 1-1 in the tournament and Brandon Valley who is 2-0 starting at 3:30 on Saturday. Games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
