With those words, the daughter of U-S Senator John Thune, Larissa Thune Hargans certified the laying of the keel for L-C-S 38, the future U-S-S Pierre. Hargens is the sponsor of the Pierre. For Thune, it was a proud moment….

Other speakers during the 40-minute ceremony included Pierre Mayor Steve Harding and U-S Senator Mike Rounds. Stanley County Commissioner Gary Grittner was also in attendance. L-C-S 38 will be based in San Diego after commissioning in 2025.
