Work To Repair Damaged I-90 Bridge At Presho To Begin Monday

PRESHO — Motorists looking for a fast route to Winner from Interstate 90 will need to amend their travel plans starting on Monday. The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin work on repairing the westbound bridge of I-90 over U-S Highway 183 at Presho. That side of the structure was struck by an over-height vehicle last fall. The work will take place in three parts. First the damaged bridge will be removed followed by replacing girders and installing new concrete. Highway 183 under the interstate will be closed to all traffic while the damaged bridge is removed and should reopen in mid-July. On and off ramps at Exit 226 will remain open during the work. It will close again during girder replacement and concrete work. During closures of 183, westbound I-90 traffic will be detoured to east to Kennebec. Motorist in Presho wanting to go south on 183 will need to use Exit 225 to drive a mile east to Exit 226 to then go south on 183. The work should be done by mid to late fall.
