PIERRE — A ribbon-cutting Tuesday celebrated Pierre’s 38-million dollar drinking water treatment plant. Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says the entire process for the plant started nine years ago…

Harding says six different locations were considered before deciding on Steamboat Park…

Harding says the plant is truly historic for Pierre…

Groundbreaking for the plant was held in the spring of 2020. The transition from well water to surface water started in December of 2022 with the city fully on drinking water from the plant by the end of January.
