Aberdeen Sweeps Pierre with Walk Off in Second Game Win

Pierre Post 8 would battle back in the second game of the doubleheader against the Aberdeen Smittys but would drop both games 18-3 and 10-9 in eight innings.

In game one, Pierre would walk 13 guys and hit another three as Aberdeen only needed five hits in total to score 18 times and beat the Eights in five innings. Jonny Lyons would drive in the only RBI of the first game for Pierre. Jaiden Smith for Aberdeen went all five innings allowing just three runs on five hits and struck out three.

In game two, the Eights worked around a bases loaded jam and nobody out in the first inning allowing just one run, but still found themselves down 3-0 after two innings. Lyons would double home the games first run to make it 3-1 in the third before then Aberdeen scoring another run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 4-1. Pierre would strike for five runs in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead thanks to an RBI single by Jett Zabel, a two RBI double by Lyons, Ridge Leimbach and Spencer Easland. However, Aberdeen would tie the game up at 6-6 in the bottom half of the inning with a two out, two RBI single. A three run bottom of the sixth gave Aberdeen a 9-6 lead, but Leimbach would serve up a two run triple down the right field line and then score on a wild pitch to tie the game at 9-9. The game remained tied until a bases loaded hit with two outs in the bottom of the eighth would be a walk off hit to close out the doubleheader and sweep for Aberdeen.

Pierre drops to 0-5 on the season and will face Sioux Falls East on Tuesday in a doubleheader. The games have been moved up and will be at 1:00. Coverage will be at 12:45 on Tuesday on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
