Sioux Avenue To Be Reduced To Two-way Traffic In Front Of Former City Hall Development

PIERRE — Traffic on Sioux Avenue will get tight starting today. The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be moving traffic on U-S Highway 14-B or Sioux Avenue into a head-to-head, two-way traffic configuration in the westbound lanes of Sioux Avenue from Highland Avenue to Pawnee Street. The eastbound lanes are being closed to facilitate utility work on the former Pierre City Hall, Chapelle Investment site. Drivers nearing the work zone should be ready for the possibility of long, single-file lines of traffic. Motorist should be ready to slow down as needed in the work zone. Commuters can expect minimal delays through the two-block area. Sixteen foot wide driving lanes will be maintained during the change. If the weather is friendly to construction crews, the lane adjustment should be removed in as little as three weeks.
