Terwilliger Takes Home State Title in Shot Put after Day One

Day one of the 2023 Track and Field State meet would be completed on Thursday as Friday and Saturday will draw a conclusion to the end of the season.

Pierre

Reese Terwilliger would be the first state champion of the weekend for the Pierre Governors as she wins the shot put with a 44-01. Maya Shorter placed ninth in the throw. Grace Richter would finish in tenth in the long jump and Elijah Boutchee would be in ninth in the javelin throw.

Sully Buttes

Lydia Hill would place second in the girls shot put throw for the Sully Buttes Chargers as she threw a 39-01 ¼ as Trinity Bietz of Scotland beat her by just a quarter of the distance at 39-01 ½. Addison Chicoine was 15th and Payge Bakker was 23rd.

Stanley County

The Stanley County Buffaloes had 21st place finish from Gace Sargent, Gracie Olson, Rachel Nemec and Ksysen Magee in the 4×800 Class A relay race.

Lyman

Lyman’s Makaylee Scott would place eighth in the girls Class B high jump

Potter County

For the Potter County Battlers, Dannika Kaup, Rayel Persoon, Jadyn Ahlemeier and Emma Schlachter would team up and place second in the 4×800 relay race in Class B. Tanner Frickson, Carter Luikens, Sean Seurer and Nicholas Schlachter would finish in ninth place at the sprint medley relay race.

Miller

For the Miller Rustlers, Trevor Werdel would place 11th in the Class A discus throw just missing a top ten finish.

Jones County

The Jones County Coyotes would get a ninth place finish from Jett Nix, Kaden Kinsley, Cooper Feddersen and Adrik Schoon along with a 24th place finish from Sophie Dowling, Sunny Valburg, Aubrie Norman and Addison Rankin in the 4×800 relay races.
