The Oahe Zap would fall for the second straight game to start the season at 0-2, but where the offense lacked in game one, it came through in game two in a 15-12 loss.
The Zap would take the lead on a three run bottom of the second as Carson Trumpold would reach on a one out error and then Kyle Memarian would hit a two run single to give the Zap their first ever runs in its franchise’s history. The Zap would hold on to a 5-3 lead heading into the eight where the wildness would ensue. The Nebraska prospects would score a total of eight runs to take an 11-5 lead and have control of the game. That is, until the bottom of the eight when Nebraska would hit three straight hitters including two with the bases loaded to score the first two runs of the inning. Jackson Mix would then double, the lone extra base hit of the game for the Zap and cut the lead to 11-9. Another error and then a ground out would force in two more runners to tie the game at 11-11 before the Zap would retake the lead on a Trumpold two out single. However, the 12-11 lead wouldn’t hold up as the Prospects would have the first six guys reach base and score four runs in the ninth to pick up a second straight victory to open up the season.
The series finale of the three game set will begin at 6:35 tonight at Hyde Stadium.
