White River Man Sentenced To Nearly 10 Years In Federal Prison For Abusive Sexual Contact

PIERRE — A White River man has been sentenced to nearly a decade in federal prison on a sexual assault charge. Chief Judge Roberto Lange sentenced 34 year-old Justin Moreno to a nine-year, six-month sentence Monday for Abusive Sexual Contact. Moreno was indicted by a federal grand jury on the charge in May of 2022 and pleaded guilty in February. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says the conviction stems from an incident in Mellette County on January 2nd of 2022. During that incident, Moreno engaged in sexual contact with an adult female victim by the use of force. After sentencing, Moreno was immediately put in the custody of the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin serving the sentence.
