Cedar Hill Cemetery holds the remains of many of Fort Pierre’s historic people including Civil War veterans and the individuals, who as children located the Verendrye plate, left by French explorers Francois and Louis Joseph Verendrye. Cedar Hill has been in existence so long, wooden grave markers remain to this day.
