Fort Pierre Shows Impressive Year-to-Year Increase In March Sales Taxes

FORT PIERRE — March sales taxes in Fort Pierre saw a major increase over March of 2022. Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen reviewed sales tax numbers for the Fort Pierre City Council earlier this week…

Heezen says the Triple B tax was down slightly…

In her comments to the Council this week, Heezen says the South Dakota Municipal League wants to begin charging Fort Pierre 200-dollars per month for use of the meeting room space at it’s building on Island Drive. The city has been using the space free-of-charge since 2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic to allow for a socially distanced meeting space. They will likely consider the fee or moving to another location at it’s next meeting.
