Hughes County Sheriff’s Office To Increase Summer Traffic Enforcement

PIERRE — The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office again looks to ramp up traffic enforcement this summer. Sheriff Patrick Callahan says that starts with rehiring Deputy Brian Hines to focus on traffic…

Callahan says the extra enforcement of traffic laws and driving last year is making a difference…

Callahan says the efforts are bringing more complements than complains…

Callahan says he expects a massive shift in traffic patterns across Hughes County this year with construction at both the Missouri River crossing in Pierre/Fort Pierre and at the Highway 14/83 junction west of Blunt. He says more deputies will be patrolling state highway 1804 as traffic from Sully County attempts to bypass the Blunt Junction construction.
