The Pierre Governor softball team has just four games remaining and the final two games on the road will be this weekend facing Jefferson tonight and Lincoln on Saturday.
The Governors are 5-9 on the season and still in 11th place in the AA standings. Pierre is facing Jefferson for the second time this season which was just a week ago, last Saturday. The Cavaliers picked up the win 14-1 and improved to 10-4 on the year at the end of last weekend. Jefferson, in third place, would be a huge seed point win for the Govs to maybe sneak into the top eight for the SoDak 16.
On Saturday, Pierre faces the 11-2 Lincoln Patriots. The Patriots are the number two team in the standings and will face Rapid City Central tonight before the Govs on Saturday. It’s another opportunity for a big seed point win. Even if the Govs would fall in both games, as long as Jefferson beats Rapid City Central on Saturday, Pierre will increase its seed point average ever so slightly. They need to make up just under three full seed points to reach the top eight, but two wins this weekend would go along way to make it happen.
First pitch tonight is at 6:00 and then first pitch at 2:00 on Saturday, both in Sioux Falls.
