The Pierre Governor tennis team will be in Mitchell today as the regular season ends with the ESD tournament and the state tournament now less than a week away.
The Governors finished in sixth place in its home invitational tournament last weekend and will look for a strong finish to the ESD tournament. Having just played in a tournament format, the experience will help and make the day more comfortable for all the varsity players, who the majority were playing in its first varsity tournament in Pierre. The Govs were on the wrong end of its eight ESD matches this year going 0-8, but now individually, the records don’t matter.
The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at Hitchcock Park in Mitchell. The state tournament is scheduled to begin next week Monday, May 15.
