The Pierre Governor softball team will be in Rapid City today for a triangular as they look to continue a solid stretch of games facing both the Stevens Raiders and the Sturgis Scoopers.
The Governors come into the week at 4-8 and are in 11th in the AA standings after its 2-2 weekend in Sioux Falls. Before Saturday’s losses, Pierre had won four of the last five and are starting to get hot down the stretch of the year. Stevens is sitting in the ninth spot in the AA standings at 5-6 with just two weeks remaining in the season. The Raiders went 1-4 last weekend defeating only Yankton and falling to Jefferson, Harrisburg, O’Gorman and Lincoln.
The Scoopers are at 1-9 on the season with its only win against the Roosevelt Roughriders. Sturgis has lost by the 10 run rule in six of its nine losses on the season. Sturgis sits in 13th place in the AA standings and both games are important for the Governors to win, but they don’t want to drop the game to the Scoopers as they continue to try and climb the standings.
First pitch of the two games is scheduled for 5:00 Central Time with the second game at 7:00.
