Governors Face Four Teams in Sioux Falls this Weekend

The Pierre Governor softball team is in Sioux Falls today and tomorrow to face four different teams at the Sioux Falls softball complex. Pierre will play two games Friday and another two on Saturday.

The Governors open the weekend with the Dakota Valley Panthers who just lost its first two games of the season. The Panthers opened the year at 8-0 but dropped a blowout loss to West Central and then dropped its second straight game to Harrisburg on Thursday. Even so, the Panthers are still in the top five of the Class A standings.

Rapid City Central is Pierre’s second opponent on Friday. The Cobblers are 2-5 on the season with its first win coming against Pierre to open the season. Central will play Watertown and Brandon Valley first on Friday before facing the Govs.

Saturday’s first opponent is Watertown who will face Rapid City Central and Roosevelt on Friday before facing the Govs. The Arrows are also 2-5 on the season but have only played one game against a sub .500 team coming into the weekend.

Pierre will finish the weekend with Jefferson who is at 5-4 and will face Stevens, Mitchell and Sturgis all before taking on the Governors to close the weekend. The Govs, who are in 12th place in the AA standings at 2-6 and are two seed points back of the tenth.

First pitch is at 3:00 and 5:30 on Friday and then 11:30 and 2:00 on Saturday.
