Game, Fish And Parks Officials Pleased To See Lake Oahe Levels On The Rise

PIERRE — There is good news for those who use Lake Oahe. The reservoir is filling up. Pat Buscher with the Game Fish and Parks Department updated the Game, Fish and Parks Commission Thursday on levels in the big lake…

Buscher, using Corps of Engineer data says Oahe is already higher than it was at the end of last year…

By May 15th Buscher says Oahe should gain another foot of elevation and by the end of June be roughly four feet below the base of the flood control zone; the level the Corps normally tries to start the runoff season at. The increasing elevations will be good for river access….

Buscher says all of the available slips at the Spring Creek Marina north of Pierre have been reserved for the summer recreation season, in part because of the rising lake level.
