Governors Roll Past Aberdeen Central for Second Win

The Pierre Governor softball team cruised to its second win of the season and have won two of the last three after its 15-0 three inning win over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday.

The Governors jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first inning and scored four runs in the second and third to enact the 15-run rule after three innings. Seven different Governors had a hit including Kara Weiss who went 3-3 and was a home run away from the first ever cycle in Governors history. N total the Governors had six of their 14 hits go for extra bases as Pierre hit four doubles and two triples. Weiss also had three RBIs but pitcher Erin Leiferman went 2-2 with four RBIs to lead the team in the win giving up just two hits over three innings in the circle. Pierre wants to use this big win into momentum heading into a busy weekend of four games in Sioux Falls as they improve to 2-6. Aberdeen Central falls to 0-7.

Pierre will travel to Sioux Falls to play Dakota Valley and Rapid City Central on Friday and then Watertown and Jefferson on Saturday. Pierre will face Dakota Valley first at 3:30 followed by the Central game at 5:30 on Friday.
