The Pierre Governor softball team lost by the 10-run rule in both games on Monday as they dropped its first game to Harrisburg 12-2 and then to Brandon Valley 11-1.
In game one, the Governors would find themselves down 9-0 after the first inning as Harrisburg would string together five straight hits helping score six runs in the inning and then an error with the bases loaded would score another two runs after a bases loaded walk. Kara Weiss would pick up an RBI triple and then Jenna Bucholz would reach on an error with two outs to score Weiss for the Govs only two runs of the game. Pierre had just two hits in the loss while Harrisburg swung for 10.
In game two of the day, Brandon Valley would take a quick 2-0 lead before Khalan Smart would score on a wild pitch to make it a 2-1 game in the top of the second. Unfortunately the Govs couldn’t score again and only had four hits in the second as Brandon Valley would score six runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early as the Lynx would gather six hits in the inning including two doubles and a triple. Pierre drops to 0-5 on the season.
The Governors will be back at home on Thursday as they host the Mitchell Kernels who are currently 1-3 on the season.
