The Pierre Governor Tennis team would battle the cold and windy conditions on Thursday picking up a win over Milbank 8-1, but falling to Mitchell 9-0 at home.
Devin Dodson and Lucas Hight would win in singles flight one and two and team up to win in doubles flight one and Hight would pick up a win in a tiebreaker in both singles and in doubles. Jacob Leiferman would earn the win in singles flight three and then team up with Carter Gordon to win in doubles flight two while Jake Mikkonen would win singles flight five and then he and his brother Josh would win in doubles flight three. Weston Northrup would win in singles flight six to round out the eight victories over Milbank and pick up the Govs second win of the season.
After the loss to Mitchell, the Governors are now 2-5 in duals this season and will face another ESD foe in Watertown on Saturday after a change to the schedule put the Govs having six matches in three days to just three matches from Thursday to Saturday.
