Pierre Softball Hosts O’Gorman as Season Finally Continues

The Pierre Governor softball team opened up the season at home with a loss on Tuesday, March, 28. Now, two and a half weeks later, they finally resume play facing O’Gorman at home this afternoon.

This has the feel of Opening Day again for Pierre but for O’Gorman, they were able to play last week in its first ever game. Harrisburg rallied in the seventh inning to beat the Lady Knights 9-8. However, O’Gorman has lost three games due to the winter weather. O’Gorman was scheduled to face Yankton along with Roosevelt and Washington before they faced Harrisburg all prior to facing the Governors. Pierre had been scheduled to face Aberdeen Central, Watertown, Rapid City Stevens and Sturgis after its first game and prior to O’Gorman. O’Gorman comes in as a young team with just two seniors on this year’s inaugural team.

First pitch from Riggs High School is scheduled for 4:00 this afternoon. Pierre will host Yankton with first pitch at noon on Friday.
