For the first time this season, the Pierre Governor Golf team will hit the course as they travel to Harrisburg today for the first invite of the season.
The Governors will be a part of 12 schools competing in the opening meet of the season. Last year’s state champion Harrisburg is hosting the event and last year’s runner up, Mitchell will another of the 12 teams.
For the Governors, four of the six golfers who competed last year at state, which included a fourth place finish and only five shots back of the state title, return for another year. The four are seniors Madilyn Brakke and Morgan Lisburg along with junior Andrea Mosteller and freshman Hadley Hart. Brakke returns after finishing tied for ninth in the state tournament last season.
The Governors will be in Harrisburg today before traveling to Rapid City on Monday. Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre is scheduled for this year’s AA state meet. Tee time is scheduled for 9:00 AM.
