O’Gorman Runs Away with 10-Run Rule Win over Pierre

Two different seven run innings would doom the Pierre Governors on Thursday in a 19-6 six inning loss to the O’Gorman Lady Knights.

O’Gorman opened up the game with a three run first inning and then would go up 10-1 after the top of the third on their first seven run inning. Pierre tried to climb back in with a three run bottom half of the inning as Ireland Templeton would triple home two runs and pull the Govs within four. Another two run top of the fifth and then a second seven run inning in the top of the sixth put the Lady Knights up 19-6. Bella Tafoya and Khalan Smart each would drive in a run in the loss as the Governors fall to 0-2 on the season. Eight of the nine hitters would record at least two hits on the day and seven of the nine had multiple RBIs in O’Gorman’s first win of the season. Noel Kist would be tagged with the loss going just two innings giving up nine runs with only three earned on eight hits and one walk. The Govs allowed nine unearned runs in the game.

Pierre will look for its first win of the season on Friday when the Yankton Gazelles will be in town. First pitch is scheduled for noon at Riggs High School.
