PIERRE — Spring is bringing the construction season out in force. The South Dakota Department of Transportation is resuming work on a section of Interstate 90 between Reliance and Presho in Lyman County. Contractors will work on milling and asphalt concrete resurfacing on both the interstate drive lanes and ramps along with rehabbing structures along the project. Updates to existing guardrails are also a part of the project. Temporary guardrail barriers are in place and traffic will flow head-to-head on the eastbound side of I-90 between mile markers 227 and 236. Two-way traffic will also be set up in the westbound lanes from mile markers 242 to 251. The two-way traffic sections should begin next week and remain in place for most of the construction season. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place in the head-to-head section of traffic. Over width detours are set up on state highway 248 from mile marker 226 to 251. The two-year, 21-point-five million dollar project is expected to be completed by October 20th.
