Team South Dakota U16 Girls would get the win on Saturday, 4-2 over the Anaheim Lady Ducks to qualify for the quarterfinals in bracket play beginning on Sunday.
Team SD went down 1-0 at the end of the first period, but it was Brookings’ Briella Vandusseldorp tying the game at 1-1 before a power play goal from Mitchell’s Reese Amick gave Team SD a 2-1 lead at the end of two periods. In the third, Mitchell’s Brynlee Sabers would score two goals to help seal the 4-2 win over the Lady Ducks and finish pool play at 2-1 and advance to quarterfinals. Team South Dakota outshot Anaheim 40-16 while Sioux Falls’ Eva Ramm made 14 saves in net.
Team South Dakota will face Wisconsin Elite Western Sunday at 12:00 Central Time. Wisconsin went 3-0 in pool play. Team SD would play again around 8:00 Central Time today if they win at noon.
