For the third consecutive year, Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz has received All-State honors in basketball and is selected for the first team for the second straight year.
Kienholz would lead the Governors in scoring for 2022-23 as he averaged 18.5 points per game while also pulling down 6.1 rebounds a game and averaging 3.3 assists per game. The Governors went 16-8 this year, returning to the state tournament for the first time since 2016-17 and claimed the consolation championship. Kienholz also finished second in scoring for his career in Pierre Governor history behind Lane Severyn. Kienholz is joined by fellow seniors Rugby Ryken of Yankton and Spencer Barr of Aberdeen Central from the ESD conference.
Other area athletes selected to the All-State team is Brian LaRoche Jr. and Gavin Thigh of Lower Brule on the first team in Class B. White River’s Joe Saylor was also selected for this year’s first team for Class B and teammate Nick Marshall was selected for the third team.
