Pierre Tennis Finishes 1-3 in First Weekend

As the Pierre tennis team begins its season this past weekend, they do so with plenty of new faces on the varsity lineup. The Govs went 1-3 out west to start the year.

Devin Dodson is the only returner who has varsity experience coming into the season as he jumps to singles flight one for Pierre. Dodson went 1-3 in singles matches. The Govs beat Spearfish in its lone win of the weekend 7-2 while being shutout 9-0 to Rapid City Christian and Stevens. They also were defeated 6-3 to St. Thomas More. Jacob and Joseph Mikkonen in doubles flight three went 2-2 over the weekend, the best in doubles flight while senior Carter Gordon went 2-2 in singles matches in both flight five and six throughout the weekend.

The Governors will head to Sioux Falls this coming weekend for a triangular with Roosevelt and Jefferson. The day begins at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
