Coming in the 2023-2024 school year the Pierre Governor tennis teams, both boys and girls will be hosting the ESD tournaments. With those tournaments coming to Pierre, the city started looking at how to renovate a couple of courts.
At last week’s commission meeting, the City accepted a $12,500 grant from United State Tennis Association. The grant will be combined with $6,000 from the Pierre School District, $2,000 from the Pierre Tennis Association and $7,500 from the City of Pierre to repair and resurface the two tennis courts at LaBarge Park. Bryan Tipton, Parks and Recreation Superintendent lays out the idea of the grant…
Tipton says he’s still looking at another grant to help lower the cost coming out of the Parks and Rec budget…
It all started rolling back last summer…
The Pierre boys tennis team is set to begin its season in the first of April.
