Governors Win Fifth Place With Double Overtime Victory

The Pierre Governors would have to take double overtime in the fifth place game to get the consolation trophy in its 68-67 win over Harrisburg.

Lincoln Kienholz would hit the final shot of regulation to tie the game at 55-55 sending the game to overtime. In overtime, Jacoby Mehrman hit the tying shot as time expired to send the game to a second overtime at 65-65. Merhman had a look at the end of double overtime but couldn’t hit the shot to win the game as Pierre escaped with the win. Jackson Edman would lead the Govs with 18 points and 16 rebounds while Kienholz went for 12 and 10, both finishing with a double-double. Ben Heisler also added 17 for the Govs.

For the Harrisburg Tigers, Ethan Determan hit for a game high 28 points while Mehrman got 19 as the Tigers finish in sixth place after coming into the playoffs as the nine seed.

For the Governors, Brecken Krueger, Kienholz, Jacob Mayer, Heisler, Edman, Christian Busch, Carson Ahartz and Josh Switzer’s career come to an end with a 16-8 record in their senior season.
