PIERRE — Five Pierre T-F Riggs High School students have won a trip to Washington D-C after placing first in the Culinary Management portion of the ProStart Invitational held at the Rakota RiverCenter in Pierre Tuesday. The restaurant management portion of the competition has students showing their skills needed to begin a restaurant from concept, operation, marketing, critical thinking and menu. The Riggs kitchen squad is made up of students Ellie Noyes, Tyler Want, Gavin Jacobson, Marlee Shorter and Ayden Syll. Noyes won the President’s award which is presented to the student who shows the best leadership during the competition. Syll picked up the Knife Skills award for overall technique and talent in the kitchen. Pierre’s ProStart win just adds to the Governor’s winning ways…
The team from Sturgis Brown High School won a trip to Washington D.C. in May with Pierre to compete on the Culinary side of the national competition. Pierre missed out on a sweep by finishing second in Culinary.The national competition is May 2nd through the 4th.
