Governors Ready for Return Trip to State Tournament

Governors Ready for Return Trip to State Tournament

For the first time since 2016-17, the Pierre Governor boys basketball team is making its return to the state tournament.

The Governors were able to win five of its last six games including the final two to have its home game in the SoDak 16 and then avenged its loss to the O’Gorman Knights to reach the state tournament. It’s something they’ll need to do at least in the first round when they take on the Mitchell Kernels. For these seniors, they get their one and only chance at a state tournament, Brecken Krueger, one of those seniors says it’s a great feeling…

Jacob Mayer, another senior says they feel good heading into the state tournament…

Mayer says one area they can still be better, is limiting turnovers…

Jackson Edman, who will play basketball at Black Hills State next year says the tournament starts on the defensive end for Pierre…

Edman speaks for all the seniors on making the state tournament…

The Governors open up with Mitchell at 8:45 Central Time on Thursday. All three Governor games will be on KCCR and online at kccrradio.com.
