February 2023 had 28 more passengers than January 2023, but compared to February 2022; was down 27 when 999 passengers used Pierre Regional last February. So far in 2023 1,916 passengers have used Pierre Regional Airport. At this point last year 1,977 enplanements were recorded. That’s 61 fewer passengers than last year, two months into the year. Huizenga says the city is still waiting on the U-S Department of Transportation to make a decision regarding renewal of the city’s Essential Air Service contract…

City officials expect to hear something in the next few weeks. Pierre has recommended to U-S D-O-T a two-hub option with eight flights to Denver and four to Minneapolis.
