Chargers Back in State Tournament, Open with Wall Eagles

Chargers Back in State Tournament, Open with Wall Eagles

The Sully Buttes Chargers return to the state girls Class B tournament this weekend and as the four seed, face the Wall Eagles, the five seed, in the first round on Thursday at the Huron Arena.

The Chargers and Eagles didn’t play this year, but had several common opponents. Sully Buttes and Wall both faced the Lyman Raiders, White River Tigers, Warner Monarchs, Phillip Scotties and the eight seed Jones County Coyotes. All matchups against these teams resulted in wins for both the Chargers and Eagles with point differential very similar between the opponents. It may be as close to a 4-5 matchup as you see in any of the state tournaments the next two weekends.

Not many teams can outsize the Chargers, but the Eagles are on of the teams and Susie Rilling, head coach of the Chargers says they will look to front and back the height of the Eagles…

Rilling says they need to be strong defensively in the game on Thursday to beat Wall and she lays out what they need to do to be successful throughout the weekend…

Coverage of the first game will begin around 1:25 and tip off at 1:45 from the Huron Arena. All three games of the tournament will be on Country 95.3 and online at pierrecountry.com.
