Woman Injured In Monday Morning Rollover On US Highway 14

PIERRE — Snowy weather Monday morning was a factor in a crash east of Pierre on U-S Highway 14. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the one-vehicle rollover crash happened 14 miles east of Pierre on Highway 14 around 7:30 a.m. A 51 year-old female was driving a 2018 Kia Soul west on Highway 14 when the driver lost control due to slush on the road surface. The Kia drifted in to the south ditch of the highway where it rolled over. The driver was using a seat belt and suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries in the crash. The driver was taken by ambulance to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre; she was alone in the vehicle. The Highway Patrol is continuing it’s investigation of the crash. Overnight into Monday, Pierre and Fort Pierre reported three inches of snow. Areas near Hayes had a 48-hour snowfall total from the weekend of six inches of snow.
