The Pierre Governors, the state dual champions and third place in the individual team title, will place seven wrestlers on this year’s All-ESD team.
Pierre was second in the ESD standings at 7-1 with its only loss to Brandon Valley. Of course the Governors avenged the loss in the dual state championship to win its second title in three years. For Pierre the seven wrestlers are Elijah Boutchee, Chance Carda, Deegan Houska, Trey Lewis, Alex Oedekoven, Josh Rydberg and Tristan Spencer. Of the seven, just two are seniors and the other five can return to become All-ESD again next season. Houska leaves the program having been All-ESD and winning the state title individually in his senior year. Rydberg, the heavy weight leaves with a dual state title his senior year and will continue wrestling at the University of Sioux Falls next season.
