Capitals Fall in Overtime to Sioux Center as Kafka Scores Six Goals

The Sioux Center Storm would beat the Oahe Capitals in overtime 7-6 in the consolation semifinals on Saturday to eliminate the Capitals.

Brylee Kafka and Faith Van Voorst each traded hat tricks as Sioux Center had their first lead at 3-2. But Kafka scored her third and fourth goal early in the third period to give Oahe the lead back at 4-3. Three goals in 58 seconds for the Storm gave the lead back and a two goal advantage late in the third period at 6-4. Then Kafka would score on the power play and with 16 seconds remaining and the goalie pulled. Kafka would score again to tie the game on her sixth goal of the game at 6-6. However, only 12 seconds into the overtime, Geo Ramirez would score to give the Storm the win 7-6 and advance to the consolation championship.

The Capitals season ends at 7-9-1-1. For Sara Bierne, Alyssa Stahl and Abagail Stewart-Fromm, their careers for the Capitals come to an end leaving the program having one of its highest win totals in history.
