Governor Girls Win Big, Going Back to State Hoops Tournament

A continuous wave of green and white was just too much for the Brookings Bobcats as the Pierre Governors pulled away in the second half, and won 68-42 Friday night at T.F. Riggs gym. Brookings was at arms length after the first half, trailing 29-21, but the Govs starters and bench wore down the Bobcats in the second half-outscoring Brookings 39-21 to pull away to victory.

Remi Price was dialed in from outside–scoring 27 points-with 5 three pointers for the 18-3 Governors, while Reese Terwilliger had a big night in the low blocks, hitting for 18 points. Pierre ran play after play from the lane and found cutters coming from both baselines for layup baskets. Pierre also pressured the Bobcats into 19 turnovers, thanks to a relentless defense.

With the victory, second seeded Pierre advances on to evening play the Pentagon in Sioux Falls March 9th-11th. In the bracket matchup, Pierre will face Rapid City Stevens, the seventh seed
in the first evening game. The second game pits third seed O’Gorman against the 6th seeded Harrisburg Tigers.

The afternoon matchups from Sioux Falls pits top seed Washington against eighth seed Watertown at 11AM, with 4th seed Jefferson against Mitchell, an upset winner over Brandon Valley Friday night.
