Two other commemorations with local connections were only read by House Speaker Hugh Bartels as the balance of Thursday’s calendar was deferred to Monday. They included H-C 8014, Recognizing Shirley Swanson for her remarkable career in teaching and H-C 8020, to recognize Lincoln Kienholz’s high school athletic achievement and commitment to play collegiate football. One other commemoration, H-C 8012 honored the 36 Pierre and Fort Pierre families who hosted legislative pages during this year’s legislative session.
